We live in a world of spirit and matter, which appear to be utterly different yet have some kind of communication. Taking this apparent utter difference as ‘real’ has led to the mind/matter problem posed in science and philosophy. How can non-material spirit, or mind, communicate with and affect a totally material body? Eugene Halliday drew on all the major religions, and saw the solution to this problem in both modern science and in the ancient philosophies of Daoism and of Hindu Advaita, or Non-Dualism.
